Introducing Calgary Chiropractor Dr. Todd Halowski

I miraculously lived healthy for 25 years without aches or pains despite playing every sport, and breaking numerous bones. The bones healed and, growing up a child of a chiropractor, I had been cared for since my birth. It was not until I was in my twenties that I experienced ‘persistent’ pain and headaches after a car accident. I was referred to a caring and compassionate chiropractor and, with care and time, the headaches and pain healed without drugs or surgery.

When I was a teenager, I discovered a passion for planes and spent my time, effort and energy thinking of flying. As I talked to different people in the industry I quickly realized that my family life would be compromised. In university I began to remember the life I had growing up – family time, exercise, good nutrition, regular chiropractic care and how healthy I was.  I also discovered a desire to help people in Calgary live a drugless healthy life.

I graduated from the University of Calgary with a degree in Health and Exercise Physiology and attended two chiropractic colleges. I graduated Magna cum Laude in 2005 from Palmer College of Chiropractic. Upon graduation I was inducted in to the Pi Tau Delta Chiropractic Honor Society, which recognizes advanced scholastic and clinical performance. My favorite time in school involved my wife and me listening to practicing chiropractors, and the stories of health and the vision for human potential that they shared. I was and still am at this time excited to be a chiropractor in Calgary and share the knowledge and skills obtained from my studies.

Chiropractic has the ability to heal and improve health for all generations. That is why, in practice, I welcome parents and their children. The model for care that I embrace is very simple: I recommend for my patients the same care or course of action as I would for any member of my family if they were in the same situation, or had the same condition. Practice members become part of my extended family.

The moments that are the most rewarding in practice center around seeing the people of Calgary improve their health. Being a father of young children, I have derived great satisfaction from the moments when I am able to help restless, colicky babies settle. The relief that the tired parents feel from a resting child is only surpassed by the peace that comes from the settled resting child. It is greatly rewarding to help people who cannot function in their lives and have done everything else besides see a chiropractor walk in sore, and return with strength and ability to participate in life. A very fulfilling part of practice is working with those patients who are well and coming for wellness care.

I count my family among the greatest blessings in my life. I am grateful for a loving wife, who shares my joys and life with me. We have two children and are looking forward to having more in the future. I love when my daughter says ‘Hi Daddy’ at the end of a work day, or the warm smile my son gives me.

I have been a chiropractic patient all my life. There are times that I have needed care because I was hurt, however for the most part, I am adjusted to stay well. I am happy to say that I have not taken a painkiller in over five years. Being a chiropractor is physically stressful and requires a lot of effort to keep my body healthy. I am rediscovering and discovering anew habits that improve my health. I workout at the Calgary Crowfoot YMCA four to five times a week and continually improving my health. If you see me there please say "hi."

My children both received their first chiropractic checkup in the hospital and receive regular checkups and care when needed. Neither of them has needed antibiotics, has had an ear infection, or not recovered quickly from colds.

I consider myself an excellent listener and hope I get the opportunity to meet you in person and discuss your specific health challenge and goals. Give our Calgary chiropractic office a call or email me with the link below.

Dr. Todd Asks some important questions of interest to Calgary residents - Chiropractor Calgary Dr. Todd Asks...

What are the two things drugs do?
Drugs can either speed up (laxatives, amphetamines, caffeine) a bodily process, or slow down (stomach antacids, sleep aids, antihistamines, muscle relaxers) a bodily process. Chiropractic care can produce the same results, but relies on the intelligence of the body. Chiropractors trust your body. Do you?
What's the difference between maintenance, prevention and wellness?
Maintenance chiropractic care is an attempt to keep a dynamic, ever-changing and adapting organism (you) in a static relationship with your environment. Preventive chiropractic care is mostly about early detection. Wellness chiropractic care is an attempt to optimize our health and be all that you were designed to be.
